We sell tickets for our tours over the internet. It is thus of vital importance to us that you, our customer, feel comfortable giving us your credit card information. This page will explain to you exactly how our booking system works, and how the money in your credit or debit card account is transmitted to one or other of our Stripe accounts (euro or sterling) via the most stringent levels of data security in existence today.
For those new to the term, PCI-DSS was created by the major payment card industry companies – VISA, MasterCard, American Express and so on – to ensure the adoption of consistent security measures by all merchants (ie. companies like ourselves who receive money online from these credit card companies).
There are six categories of PCI standards that must be met in order for a merchant to be compliant:
1. Maintain a secure network.
2. Maintain a vulnerability management programme.
3. Regularly monitor and test network.
4. Protect cardholder data.
5. Implement strong access control measures.
6. Maintain an information security policy.
Checkfront doesn’t store your cardholder data (therefore, we don’t have access to it at all). Instead, both Game of Thrones Tours and Checkfront rely on a “third party payment gateway” to handle these functions. The gateway and merchant account package which Game of Thrones Tours uses, a package which meets all six PCI standards for merchants, is powered by Stripe, the company formed by Patrick and John Collison of Limerick, Ireland which provides PCI Provider Level 1 security, the most stringent level of security for online credit and debit card transactions.
